Pancake day

pancake day
Here in the U.K. yesterday it was Shrove Tuesday, otherwise known as Pancake day. On my pancakes I have always been a sugar and lemon girl! This year we also had some Maple syrup because I have been stocking up on ingredients for making receipes from my Deliciously Ella book. And wow, Maple syrup is like liquid gold currency isn't it!

I used:-

150g plain wholmeal flour
150ml milk
30g sugar
1 egg

ta daa!
And here it is.....my pancake made on my Mum's little crepe pan. Cooked in a little butter, it's really so easy using one of these. I just need to get one of those little wooden pushing things, which I'm sure has a name!

It was really rather lovely, but I couldn't help thinking about Nutella!

So what did you have? did you remember?

ps. not a sponsored post!

  1. I have to try definitely to do pancakes ! Nutella is amazing but I prefer nut cream with hight percent of nut and no palm oil! ;) Have nice day!

  5. My favorite, Dutch Babies in my cash iron pan. An oven pancake that after cooked is sprinkled (drenched) in fresh squeezed lemon juice then dusted with powdered sugar. Yum. Maple syrup is good too though!

  6. I love the old school lemon and sugar too but this year I had blueberries, banana, chopped almonds and greek yoghurt! Delicious!! Husband had nutella and icecream and Betsy had black cherry jam - so not healthy in this house :) x

  7. Lemon juice and brown sugar here too. I held off on the maple syrup because I have that in my breakfast porridge. Ever since I went off honey maple syrup has more than filled the gap.

  10. You know, I find that pancake success is as much down to the pan as anything else...
I always go for simple sugar and lemon. But I must buy some maple syrup - the expense has put me off in the past. Silly really as I believe in eating well...
Glad you enjoyed your Shrove Tuesday :)

  11. Thanks Sarah, I'm the same, but it was reduced for pancake day! I think Agave Syrup is also nice and probably cheaper. x

  12. We missed the actual day for some reason, but I'm embarrassed to say we've made up for it by having them most days since, just simple with lemon and sugar, we'd forgotten how lovely they were.
