reflection

candlelight and quiet
This was going to be a reflective post. Some thoughts about my life and where it's heading. But really I feel completely bamboozled. My mind is ticking over in a kind of slow drunk way. I've been attic clearing today. I am on a mission to let things go. I can't help but feel like my life is on the other side of it. Wherever that might be. Maybe it will all still be here just the same, but feeling a little lighter.

There have been car loads. It's endless. Just how much stuff can fit into one house, it's incredible. No other thoughts, I'm in a stupor.

new clear spaces and a good morning

Yes, it's a lovely morning here today. Sunshine and a gentle breeze blowing some fresh air through the house and some gentle chiming of my wind chimes. The birds are singing and some doves are cooing outside my kitchen window, where a nest has been built in the tree outside. It's almost spring. And when the wind rustles up a bit more, I'll close all the windows and be grateful for this moment of fresh air indoors and wrap my woollens around me again, for we are not really there yet! but almost.

I have been moving furniture around in my house, a favourite occupation of mine. Last week found me in the attic, moving my piles of things around. Well, I tidied piles around the edge, some old toys went, a bit of clutter went. In the middle I made a pile of boxes, the ones I really want to get to. These contain photos and documents, of at least 3 or 4 peoples lives! and as much as I can't face sorting it out, I think that there are some pictures that would be great to have in our lives and enjoy them. And so a huge amount of procrastination is going on around these boxes!

And they are sitting there in my subconsciousness! the other night I dreamt the ceiling in my house, (it's a bungalow) was collapsing, and that someone had put a washing machine up there.

Clearly I want to get into these boxes.

...... and so I moved furniture around the living room instead! This little farmhouse table was hanging out with my craft things. It's a friendly table. Just the right size for this bench. The other table was quite large and imposing and actually nobody really sat there. The bench, don't tell anyone, underneath all the blankets and sheepskin rugs, it's just come straight in from the garden, mildew and all. It's almost falling apart, but when a girl wants a bench, only a bench will do!

I like this new space, it feels much more welcoming and comfortable. My sleeping buddas are there in the background, lugged in my back pack all the way from Thailand, all those years ago are some of my very favourite things. The garden falls away on a slope behind the house, where I live everybodys garden is a slope!

My kitchen window! I stand here a lot.....but it's a nice spot. I'm watching the doves nest building here. I'm feeling quite protective about the whole thing. Worrying about the wind blowing too much, ready to run out and catch any falling nest.

I have de-cluttered my whole kitchen, there is still a fair amount, but a car full has gone and there's a certain amount of air and space around everything. Which really is what I want.

In my mums kitchen all her plants seemed to really flourish, I think she must have whispered sweet nothings to them while she washed up! and so I have lined up my plants and will see if I can encourage them.....I'll show you them again when they're blooming!

thank you for your comments on my last post, so sweet and I enjoyed them so much, it's such wonderful encouragement. Blog on! ....... onwards and upwards, that's what I say!

wishing you a good week,

Heather

A new listing in the shop!

Hello good folks!

I have a new listing in my etsy shop today. I just love these. I have persuaded myself to part with this lovely! I can and am making more.....,

My wool baskets have been sorted, I have tidied my shelves, my whole house seems to be in various stages of de-cluttering. This time I want to get down to the bare bones of what I love and enjoy. I want to be able to really see what it is I'm doing without a whole load of extra stuff sitting on top of it, metaphorically and literally! It's time to move forwards. I feel like I am on the first rung of a ladder and now I need to be prepared to climb and put in the hard work, (and fun I hope!).......

This week I have my four happy things to show you;

My sweet little dog, bless her, she makes me happiest of all. Yes she has her own chair, it's a bit chilly down on the ground you know! and a rather trendy thrifted blanket adds a bit of cosy. Mind you put your fingers in her basket while she's a sleep at your own peril! She can be a bit of a stroppy pants!

Blue sky and Autumn leaves, so pretty. I just breathe out when I see this in the sky......I hope to see many of these crisp, clear, sunny autumn days.

My mustard cowl I am making. I am enjoying this in the evenings so much, I also have a grey one on the go. I am following this pattern shown by Maaike at crejjtion, on her post here. It's so easy. I had decided this thrifted wool was too thin to be used for anything and it was already in my charity shop bag when I saw that Maiike had also used some thin yarn. I'm using a bigger crochet hook, size 6. Which is nice for a change. I am so going to enjoy wearing this.

Have you spotted my felted pumpkin. I made this a while ago. At the time I thought a whole garland of different fruit and veg would be fun, but never got further than the pumpkin!

Lastly, this beautiful picture by Elsa Beskow from her book 'Around the year'. I have this open on my table. Her paintings are so sweet. This is October. This book was from my sons childhood and it's keeper. I might show you more of the pictures through the year.

Hope you are enjoying the Autumn days, I wonder what are you making at the moment?

the week after camping.....

well the first thing I absolutely had to do after my camping trip
was move the furniture around in the living room!
life had just felt so much simpler living in a tent in a field.
with a break from the technology too....

I had just been waiting for my moment to do it,
so a huge tidy and de-clutter is in progress.
things being moved from one room to the next
until finally into the garage or off to the charity shop.

the boot of my car is now full,
it really is a process all this moving and clearing,
and yes I think it's going to extend to the whole house.

Clear   space    feels   so   good!

Here is my lunch time reading,
modern vintage style,
lots of great ideas and some lovely vintage crochet.

I have been counting my blessings in the garden too,
and believe me vegetable wise, there aren't many of them!!
It was either the weather or a complete lack of any attention from me.....
I will try harder next year,
and I might still try and grow some more salads and kale for the winter.
It's nice to have something green to eat straight out the garden.

I have been wearing my yellow sunshine ring,
I love it,
sometimes I get some funny looks......
but it really does ask to be worn when the sun is out.

I have finally brought new beach inspired towels, the pebbles are in my garden!!
I am really enjoying this sea foam colour.
It seems to be popping up all over the place......

sweet little jug found on holiday and some vintage buttons.

a very politically incorrect globe! found whilst thrifting,
I enjoyed watching the olympic opening ceremony
it was hypnotic. when I looked at the time that evening it was 1.40am.
I thought the clocks had broken!!
it was a global event,
but a very british ceremony, not sure that everybody got it,
Mr.Bean was hysterical.......!

enjoying this lovely pink geranium sitting in my blue jug,
lovely combination of colours,

and finally enjoying my new mug of coffee and flowers on the go!!
I love painted enamel flowers,
I have wanted one every since I saw this on tales from cuckoo land,
fortunately this appeared half price in the sale at the local camping shop.

I seem to rush around with one of these a lot......

what are you finally managing to get to now the holidays are here?
